You can quickly and easily export VIM files from Autodesk Revit 2017-2024 using the VIM for Revit plugin.
Prerequisites
Make sure you are signed in to your VIM Cloud account and have installed the latest version of VIM for Windows, which includes the VIM for Revit plugin.
Creating a VIM file
Open your project in Autodesk Revit.
Click the VIM tab and then click Make a VIM.
In the VIM for Revit dialog, define the Export Options (see below) and click Start.
When the export from Revit is complete, click the Open Locally button.
The exported project opens in VIM for Windows, where you can view your BIM data and explore the 3D rendered project.
Export Options:
3D View - Lists the 3D views defined in Revit. The exported BIM data and rendered project will be limited to the selected view.
2D Views - The selected View Sheet Sets and related data will be included in the VIM file.
Schedules - The Schedules and related data will be included in the VIM file.
Radical Instancing - Advanced deduplication helps extremely large-scale projects to run smoothly on low-powered devices.
Magnificent Geometry - Objects are tessellated with clean quads, just how real-time engines expect them.
Skip Empty Parameters - Ignores parameters with empty values. This can improve export times, but you won't be able to audit the empty parameters in the VIM file.
All 3D Cameras - Exports the names of the 3D and 2D views defined in the Revit project, as well as the coordinates and orientations of the views.
